Viva aims at foreign investors  for private placement

PT Visi Media Asia (VIVA), the media group belonging to tycoon Aburizal Bakrie, is considering selling 10 percent shares of its subsidiary Intermedia Capital (IMC) in a private placement, in the hope of raising US$105 million to refinance its debts. VIVA was looking for ways to restructure its debt to the Singapore-chapter of Swiss bank Credit Suisse. The shares to be allotted are those of IMC, the operator of free-to-air television station ANTV. VIVA opted to release 10 percent of IMC shares as the subsidiary still had a lot of opportunities in the fund-raising plan, given that VIVA still dominated ownership in the newly-listed company.

 VIVA holds about a 90 percent stake in IMC, while the public owns 10 percent of the shares. By releasing 10 percent of IMC shares, VIVA hoped to pool $105 million to pay off almost half of its remaining debt to Credit Suisse. VIVA entered into a $230 million credit agreement with Credit Suisse in November last year. The proceeds of the loan were used to repay its outstanding loans, boost its liquidity, and for its working capital and capital expenditure (capex).

VIVA had previously planned to pay off some of the debt from the funds raised in IMC’s initial public offering (IPO) in April, but the money generated from the subsidiary’s public debut was far below the holding company’s expectations. VIVA targeted to earn a maximum Rp 1.13 trillion ($109.58 million) from the public offering, of which 10 percent had been allocated to refinance its loans, but it ended up reaping only Rp 541.17 billion.

Due to the unsatisfying IPO result, VIVA must explore other potential avenues to refinance the remaining $220 million debt. Such avenues include issuing bonds and seeking domestic loans for refinancing, besides the private placement. Viva has prepared Rp 900 billion for capex this year, a significant increase compared to Rp 400 billion last year. The capex would be used to finance the company in building new television studios and developing its online streaming platform VIVALL and pay television service VIVA . VIVALL was launched in May and has generated about 600,000 subscribers with 1.3 million screen views from Android and iOS.

BI prepares Rp 115 trillion  for Idul Fitri

           

            Bank Indonesia (BI) preparing more than Rp 115 trillion (US$9.7 billion) of fresh money to replace battered notes and meet demand for crisp currency used as gifts during Ramadhan and Idul Fitri. The figure represents around a 15 percent increase from the same period last year. The central bank would utilize its 41 offices throughout Indonesia and cooperate with commercial banks and non-bank institutions to distribute the money.

SAN FRANCISCO, KOMPAS.com - Twitter Inc telah membuktikan dirinya mampu mencetak pertumbuhan. Namun, kinerja jejaring sosial berlogo burung biru ini belum bisa meyakinkan investor Wall Street.  Twitter mengumumkan pendapatan di kuartal I yang berakhir 31 Maret tumbuh 119 persen menjadi 250 juta dollar AS, dari pencapaian 114 juta dollar AS di periode yang sama tahun lalu.  Pencapaian ini lebih baik ketimbang ekspektasi pasar yaitu pendapatan 241 juta dollar AS, maupun target Twitter yang sebesar 240 juta dollar AS.  Meski pendapatannya membaik, namun Twitter membukukan rugi bersih 132 juta dollar AS di akhir Maret, berbanding rugi 27 juta dollar AS di periode setahun sebelumnya. Pembengkakan rugi ini disebabkan ongkos Twitter melantai di bursa saham Amerika Serikat (AS). Tanpa pengeluaran biaya mengurus pelepasan saham ke publik, laba yang disesuaikan (adjusted earning) Twitter 183.000 dollar AS, membaik ketimbang setahun sebelumnya yang masih merugi 10,5 juta dollar AS.

"Kami fokus meningkatkan nilai di setiap timeline," kata Dick Costolo, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Twitter. Tercatat ada 255 juta pengguna Twitter setiap bulannya, lebih tinggi dibanding akhir tahun lalu 241 juta per bulan.  Meski mengumumkan perbaikan kinerja, saham TWTR merosot 11 persen di sesi setelah jam perdagangan di bursa New York. "Mereka harus membuktikan bahwa mereka bisa menjadi platform yang benar-benar besar," kata Arvind Bhatia, analis di perusahaan investasi Sterne Agee. Analis melihat ada beberapa kelemahan Twitter yaitu jumlah pengguna yang tumbuh kurang dari 4 persen setiap bulan, serta margin pendapatan iklan yang turun menjadi 1,44 dollar AS dari sebelumnya 1,49 dollar AS per iklan.  CEO Costolo mengatakan, akan membuat platformnya makin ramah pengguna, bahkan untuk pengguna baru. Baru-baru ini, Twitter memungkinkan pengguna mengimpor kontak dari ponselnya, sehingga lebih mudah mencari akun pengguna lainnya.

saya mengambil berita ekonomi keuangan tentang pembengkakan kerugian yang dialami oleh Twitter. Kerugian yang terjadi pada twitter karena ongkos twitter yang melantai di bursa saham amerika serikat. Dalam hal ini pihak twitter belum bisa meyakinkan investor wall street dalam kemampuannya mencetak pertumbuhan. Twitter mengumumkan pendapatan di Kuartal I lebih besar daripada tahun sebelumnya. Namun saat hasil pembukuan twitter mengalami kerugian. Salah satu pihak dari twitter pun menengaskan bahwa mereka sedang melakukan perbaikan kinerja menjadi lebih baik. Terdapat beberapa kelemahan pada twitter, yaitu jumlah pengguna yang tumbuh kurang dari 4% setiap bulannya dan margin pendapatan iklan yang semakin turun. CEO dari twitter mengemukakan akan membuat platfromnya semakin ramah bagi para pengguna.
